A real gem, this travel writing desk and makeup toilette. It was certainly part of the belongings of some Parisian noblewoman. It was used during long carriage journeys, so that the noblewoman could make up and write upon arrival at her destination (hotels, noble holiday villas or other houses where she was a guest), thanks to the screen to maintain her privacy. The furniture is made of solid Brazilian mahogany with the insertion of white Carrara marble slabs, both on the top of the removable desk and on the toilette part. The screen is hidden in the back and can be raised at will. The removable writing desk on the external top, in addition to having the insertion of the white Carrara marble slab, is surrounded by a gilded bronze railing. Inside the desk, there are two small drawers and a writing surface with black leather and gold decoration, also original. Condition: In perfect condition and original, it is perfectly restored and functioning. Period and style: First half of the 19th century, in Parisian Empire style. Provenance: Paris, France ????
