Impeccable Louis XIV inlaid walnut chest of drawers from the very early 18th century
Period: Early 18th century
Impeccable, untouched, and above all, a rare early 1700s Piedmontese commode. Entirely in walnut, with four turned (very rare) bobbin-shaped legs in full 17th/18th-century Italian style. Inlaid in burnished boxwood with China ink decorations, with perfect geometry and cabinet-making, worthy only of palace and high bourgeois furniture. Perfect in every respect, as it is all intact with its original bronze handles, which have never been replaced (this can be seen from the fact that the wood has no other holes made previously). It is not at all easy to find such an intact piece of furniture with this appearance and age. The same goes for the locks. Furniture like this used to be sold for around 20/25 million lire. For its elegance and size, the piece is very suitable to be placed in a living room, paired with a painting or a gilded wood period mirror. It will surely give "to those who see it" a great prestige to your home. Condition: Perfect with a glossy pad finish (varnishing with shellac pad and pale oil). Period and style: Very early 1700s in full Louis XIV early Piedmontese Baroque style. Origin: Italy, Piedmont. Maximum dimensions in centimeters: H. 93 L. 121 D. 53 N.B.
