Peters armchair
Period: 19th century
armchair in walnut wood, with rich sculptures on the armrests, and finely turned legs; attributable to Henry Thomas Peters, a nineteenth-century English cabinetmaker transplanted to Italy, he was a complex and eccentric character. His social and political sensitivity (he was the correspondent of Giuseppe Mazzini among other things), his interpretation of the role of the entrepreneur, with the introduction of "protodesign" methods, made him a precursor. Peters was able, with his furniture, to meet the taste of the new rising bourgeoisie. cm.56x54x88h
