Large white Carrara marble fountain, originally from an important Piedmontese villa. The base is columnar with a Triton and Roda (or Bentesicima) on two sides. In Greek mythology, Tritons are marine deities, often depicted as the offspring of Triton (son of Poseidon and Amphitrite). They are creatures with human torsos and fish tails, the male counterparts of sirens, described as servants of Poseidon who blow conch shells to calm or stir the seas.
