Antique Venetian/Tuscan Lacquered Chest, 19th Century
Period: Second half of the 19th century
Price:
€ 749
Measures H x L x P
Stunning chest of difficult availability and rarity, for quality of preservation and measures.
This chest seems to be inspired by a Venetian or Florentine Baroque style of the
18th century, with some elements that also recall Rococo.
With curved lines and abundant shapes. The furniture has a wavy and dynamic silhouette, typical of the Baroque, which loved excess, theatricality and visual richness.
Hand-painted floral decorations are very common in the Tuscan and Venetian craftsmanship,
especially in the 18th century. The bouquets of flowers, often central and symmetrical, were used to enhance furniture intended for noble or bourgeois houses.
With decorative painted elements that simulate trompe-l'oeil and relief carvings, a lighter (and less expensive) alternative to real carving, but which created a great aesthetic impact.
Condition: in perfect condition, the lacquer has been restored with professional products, and is perfect.
